The Academy's Bar

In 1991 The Academy Of Spherical Arts opened its doors for the first time and began its quest to create one of North Americas most unique venues. In keeping with that philosophy the Academy has amassed an extensive collection of wine, beer and spirits. As with most things associated with the Academy it began modestly by acquiring a bottle of single malt scotch every couple of weeks. Single malt scotch remains at the center of our collection with one hundred and forty different kinds, some of which can no longer be purchased. Over the years the collection grew to include other whiskeys from Canada, Ireland and the United States. We also have extensive collections of Vodka, Rum, Gin and Liqueurs. We now have over six hundred different bottles on our bar.

With the opening of the champagne lounge, La Belle Époque at the beginning of the millennium, we began an exciting journey into wine collecting. Our cellar has the storage capacity for eight thousand bottles and our list has more than three hundred and fifty different wines on it. We also began a wine based spirit portfolio and we have one hundred and thirty Cognacs and Armagnacs, sixty Grappa's and twenty Vintage Ports.

Beer is experiencing a period of growth in Ontario. The trend is moving away from the big corporate breweries to small microbreweries that are producing many wonderful, flavorful beers. Here at The Academy you will find many beers from these microbreweries as well as beer from all around the world. We have upwards of one hundred and fifteen beers on our list and it is constantly changing as we strive to bring you the best these beers have to offer. You may even find a brew that is unique to the Academy.
